What do Vx response codes mean?

Find out why a payment may not have been processed successfully.

Vx response codes indicate a validation issue, such as an invalid card detail, unsupported transaction type or incorrect information supplied with the request. These checks normally take place before the payment can be processed.

Invalid merchant details

Check the merchant or account details used for the transaction. If the issue continues, contact Cashflows Support.

Invalid expiry date

Ask the customer to check the card expiry date and try again.

Vx03

Invalid start date

Ask the customer to check the card start date and try again.

Vx04

Invalid issue number

Ask the customer to check the issue number entered, where applicable.

Vx05

Invalid CVV

Ask the customer to check the security code and try again.

Vx06

Invalid card number

Ask the customer to check the card number and try again.

Vx07

Cardholder details cannot be set

Check that the required cardholder information has been supplied correctly.

Vx08

Insufficient address details

Check that all required billing address fields have been completed.

Vx09

Invalid country code

Check that a valid country code has been supplied.

Vx11

Invalid email address

Check the email address format and try again.

Vx12

Invalid phone number

Check the phone number format and try again.

Invalid amount

Check that the transaction amount is valid and formatted correctly.

Original transaction declined

The original payment was declined. Review the original response and ask the customer to use another payment method if required.

Check that the selected transaction type is supported for the account and payment flow.

Card number changed

The card details do not match the original transaction. Use the original card details where required.

Original transaction not supported

The referenced transaction cannot be used for this request. Review the original payment and try the appropriate action.

Original item not supported

The referenced item cannot be used for this transaction type.

Vx20

Currency changed

Use the same currency as the original transaction where required.

Vx21

Amount mismatch

Check that the amount matches the original transaction or the permitted amount for the action.

Refund amount exceeds available amount

Check the amount already refunded and ensure the new refund does not exceed the remaining refundable balance.

Invalid request

Review the request details and confirm all required fields have been supplied.

Card and currency combination not supported

Use a supported card and currency combination.

Unknown card type

Check the card details or ask the customer to use another card.

Duplicate transaction

Check whether the transaction has already been submitted before trying again.

Unable to void transaction

The transaction may no longer be eligible for cancellation. Check its current status and use a refund if appropriate.

Original transaction not refundable

Check the original transaction status and confirm that it is eligible for a refund.

Invalid PIN

Ask the customer to check the PIN and try again where appropriate.

Unknown transaction class

Check the transaction type and integration settings.

Card expired

Ask the customer to use a valid card.

CVV required

Ask the customer to enter the card security code.

Original transaction already settled

The transaction has already settled. A refund may be required instead of a cancellation.

Duplicate transaction already cancelled

The referenced transaction has already been cancelled.

The transaction cannot be processed in its current form. Review the transaction details or use another payment method.

Bank declined card

Ask the customer to contact their card issuer or use another payment method.

User details are not valid

Check the customer or user details supplied in the request.

Duplicate transaction reference

Use a unique transaction reference and submit the payment again.

Original transaction too old

The original transaction is outside the permitted timeframe for this action.

Transaction not currently supported

The requested transaction type is not currently supported.

3-D Secure not enabled

Check that 3-D Secure is enabled and configured for the payment flow.

3-D Secure data invalid

Check the authentication data supplied and try again.

Concurrent authorisations

Wait for the existing authorisation to complete before submitting another request.

Invalid bank details

Check the bank details supplied and try again.
